rotations#7

sat 8th dec 2001 britons protection manchester

christmas ish time special thingy, featured in their best naughty bed poses:

mr matt wand (fresh from stock, hausen & walkman)

disco operating system (RSI's only true friend)

jj howard & simon mulcaster (doing drums & wires)

the ball (doing technoid arse)

possibly the best ever rotations, and quite possibly the last since the inception of burst couch

rotations#6

sat 22nd sept 2001britons protection, manchester

featured:

GOMORRahh - daniel weaver & spencer 'mild man jan' marsden inflagrante bossa-cello

posset - guitar/toys/noinputmixer lads make triumphant return

illuminati - enlightened electronics from planetsounds geezer

plus maybe disco operating system.. perhaps

the single most successful and enjoyable rotationses yet, save for the organiser/author remaining sober due to van duty, and the copies of spilt signals#2 not having arrived in time for the show. oh well.. the disco operating system didn't play though.

rotations#5

RSI's current run of events continued, with these performers performing (in no order):

jj howard & dj10-4 - improv collab from the gods

villa 21 - digital noisescapery

posset - dansette & guitar tomfoolery

one of the most diverse rotationses we've done, special thanks to the posset boys for making the journey and proving me right.. it was a dead hot day too, so ta for everyone who came and sat in a dark sticky room all night..

friday 20th october 2000

was not to be missed - matt wand (stock hausen & walkman), jj howard, daniel weaver, disco operating system, squeal and dj 10-4

we were very honoured to have mr wand on board jumping around like a schoolboy with his gameboy, and the second live improvisation from 'squeal'- that's messrs howard & weaver on drum kit and amplified double bass and chapple & bibby on CD decks and electronics was as ungraspable as the first in september. top quality sets from daniel weaver, j.j.howard and disco operating system topped off an excellent but sadly under-attended night. thanks to those who did make the effort. you know who you are.

SOLO - night & day café

oldham st. manchester wed 20th jan 2000

a repeat running of the solo night (see below) as organised by mr. j.j. howard, featured a drum kit/electronic/CDJ improv between j.j. himself, disco operating system and DJ10-4, went down well in a jazzbient kinda way - then mild man jan and daniel weaver got together as B&Q and constructed a box for a CD and noises from the sound of the box to go onto the CD and bemused many a passer by with their angle grinding action. finally those space rock japesters white cube played and everyone went home happy.

SOLO - night & day café

oldham st. manchester wed 8th december

featured solo performances by daniel weaver (ex Stock Hausen & Walkman), whose improv cello & set was one of the most beautifully mindblowing performances this writer has seen for a long stretch, mild man jan (currenly constructing his 'box' series for V/Vm) who did his thing to a rude and unnapreciative audience, j.j. howard who pulled out a set of fokked up beats and squalls of electronics, topped of by some wonderfully spiky free drumming involving hammers, and RSI's disco operating system which was quite good for a change. the pet shop boys decided to turn up (this really is the truth) to look bored and nick some ideas.. the beer is still too expensive in the N&D though. shame.

rotations#3 at the britons protection

the third event in our illustrious series of happenings took place at the the britons once more on 14.08.99. performing live were mild man jan, fast robert (having supplied the brilliant 'kushti' to our parent organisation's 'white light white eat' album, then promptly buggering off to do guitar with the unbearably snogable rocketfield; and disco operating system (having performed at rotations#2 and wanting to do it better..)

probably the most successful rotations yet (paying customers into double figures no less), fast robert in particular being surprise of the show pulling out a a melancholic set of monstrous proportions after not being anywhere near electronic music for years. we might release it soon if we can be arsed. disco operating system was shit and mild man jan was great. cheers spencer.

rotations#2 @ the britons protection

the one where crazy horses came and made everyone shit bile through their ears and headtrapcrashman unleashed his hissery for the last time, sandwiching a set from disco operating system which may yet see the light of day in recorded form..

rotations @ the britons protection

was the setting for the first public performance by arctic jukebox, a collective of various fools from the rsi camp and soon to be massive 'beauty-corers' rocketfield. household items, guitars and the unmovable hammond organ were scraped and abused for a couple of hours or so, in a drifty kind of way. no point explaining more, just look out for rsicdr004, available soon (perhaps, perhaps not..), entitled 'your day beats our year' (possibly) to hear what happened.
